Correlation of the transcutaneous bilirubin and serum bilirubin levels measured before and after phototherapy in newborns: a prospective observational study

چکیده
Aim: The purpose of the present study was to show reliability transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) measurement as an alternative method total serum (TSB) when starting treatment with phototherapy (PT), which is one most important methods hyperbilirubinemia a very common practice in neonatal period and eliminates disadvantages blood collection.
Materyal Method: Two measurements were made evaluate whether there correlation between level for follow-up newborns who hospitalized prospectively followed up Newborn Intensive Care Unit Karabuk University Medical Faculty Training Research Hospital April 13 June 30, 2022 (Level III Neonatal Center) scheduled phototherapy. primary result TcB TSB at first 24 hours after, initiation FT, termination 12 after PT discontinued.
Results: values were measured beginning PT, end ended. 11.60±5.16 10.72±4.02, respectively; second 7.45±2.34 6.35±2.83, third 8.03±2.45 7.35±2.63 mg/dL, respectively. A strong positive found among all values. Also, received FT evaluated by subgrouping, high levels continued.
Conclusion: showed that significant relationship taken from covered skin start, end, PT. subgroup, it TCB predicted before Based on these findings, concluded measurement, including hours, reliable receiving hyperbilirubinemia. However, we think larger prospective controlled studies are required this respect.

Comparison of Transcutaneous Bilirubin Measurement With Total Serum Bilirubin Levels in Preterm Neonates Receiving Phototherapy.
OBJECTIVE To compare transcutaneous bilirubin with total serum bilirubin in preterm neonates after initiation of phototherapy. METHODS Jaundice was assessed in 30 preterm neonates with transcutaneous bilirubin and total serum bilirubin before initiation of phototherapy and at 12 hr after initiation of phototherapy. A photo-occlusive patch was applied over the sternum. RESULTS Transcutaneous...
متن کاملA Comparison between Transcutaneous Bilirubin (TcB) and Total Serum Bilirubin (TSB) Measurements in Term Neonates
Background: Transcutaneous bilirubinometry (TCB) is a simple method for estimating bilirubin levels in neonates. This method is noninvasive, quick, and painless. We aimed to compare serum and cutaneous bilirubin measurements in term neonates.Method: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 200 neonates with icter with birth weights of at least 2500 grams were studied. TCB was measured using a...

OBJECTIVES To compare transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) readings with total serum bilirubin (TSB) after phototherapy, estimating the range of TcB where confirmation through blood sampling can be avoided. METHODS Preterm and term neonates receiving in-hospital phototherapy underwent TcB measurements (device JM-103, TcB) alongside routine TSB before and after treatment. We calculated time-dependen...

OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to determine whether transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) measurements correlate with serum total bilirubin (STB) levels in indigenous, darkly pigmented African newborns with varying degrees of skin pigmentation, some of which had developed kernicterus. METHODS Jaundiced infants who were < or =2 weeks of age and admitted to Baptist Medical Center-Eku (Eku; ...
